This is the irony: The plight of women in Afghanistan is caused Taliban’s adherence to sharia law as dictated by Islam. The women receive a half million dollar grant (from the west) to create a “safe zone” from their oppressive society. After creating this “safe zone” the women themselves raise money to build a small Mosque inside their “safe zone” so that they can practice their Islamic faith. The same faith that oppresses them.

Please. Islam is the five pillars. There’s nothing sexist about any of them.
I fully support women having and running THEIR OWN mosques and imams – outside of the jurisdiction of male Muslims.
It’s already happening in the US and Canada.
The Abrahamic faiths are pretty messed up, but not everyone has the IQ level to convert to Buddhism or Jainism or Vedanta – or create their own religion.

I am not that much of a scholar of history to speculate on the answer to your question, but it strikes me that women building Mosques and having a female mullah is very odd and maybe for thinking on their part. I way to tame islam? or destroy it . . .
